Who?
Within the framework of the circular economy, Reverse Metallurgy is a platform of excellence active in the field of metal recovery from various wastes generated by industrial manufacturing processes, urban mines and household waste, …
The platform is made up of various leading companies specializing in metal processing and recycling, metal users, engineering companies and companies specializing in various fields (energy, co-products, etc.), scientific bodies (universities and research centers) and public funding and development bodies.
It offers a broad spectrum of complementary skills.
Our development focuses on new recycling and metal treatment processes, new recycling technologies, and improving the competitiveness of metal-using companies through the circular economy.
What?
Reverse Metallurgy’s experience is based on the design, implementation and monitoring of development projects and project portfolios, particularly large-scale ones.
For example, Reverse Metallurgy has set up a strategic private-public partnership project (PIT 7326) focusing on 4 areas of technological development (intelligent and automated sorting, hydrometallurgy, plasma and pyrometallurgy) with a budget of around 70 million euros.
Reverse Metallurgy also forms the basis of the RM+ project portfolio, which focuses on energy and digital transitions, as well as new materials integrating the circular economy. RM+ is financed within the framework of the Recovery and Resilience Plan by an amount of around €100 million.
Reverse Metallurgy sc also develops more specific projects with more limited budgets.
Reverse Metallurgy defines the platform’s strategy and implements its various projects to develop new products, processes and technologies for the circular economy applied to metals.
How?
Reverse Metallurgy’s partners offer :
- the processing of scrap and metal compounds by metallurgical plants specializing in the circular economy
- a technological and scientific dome serving R&D partnerships with prime contractors involved in the circular econoamy for their waste.
The platform’s industrial partners have extensive experience in recycling and processing complex waste and residues containing a wide variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals (steel, stainless steel, zinc, copper, cobalt, rare earths, etc.) from a wide range of sources (automotive, household appliances, electric motors, industrial processes, etc.).
Reverse Metallurgy is supported by a scientific and technical dome grouping together scientific partners with extensive expertise in metallurgical treatments, state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and large-scale pilots covering all the technologies required for metal treatments (pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, etc.). Thanks to its pragmatic approach, the dome is involved in R&D developed with companies, and thanks to its large-scale metallurgical pilots is particularly well suited to the industrialization (up-scaling) of new processes, products and technologies (“from idea to concrete realization”).
